disaster services class a volunteer application must be completed and submitted
to the chapter. . Enrollment is limited and all classes are held dependent on adequate
enrollment.

INTRODUCTION TO DISASTER SERVICES
The purpose of this training is to
provide fundamental information about disasters, the community response,
and the role of Red Cross Disaster Services. This
is a prerequisite course for all disaster classes.

FAMILY SERVICES: Providing Emergency Assistance
The purpose of this training is to help
you develop the skills needed to conduct a client interview. This
assistance is geared toward meeting immediate emergency needs of people
affected by disaster. The Red Cross enables victims of disasters to resume
living independently by providing the means for them to pay for what they
need most, such as groceries, new clothing, temporary housing, basic
household items, and medicines.

MASS CARE: An Overview
The purpose of this training is to help
you develop skills that you will use to provide congregate shelter
facilities, fixed and mobile feeding services for disaster victims and
emergency workers in the affected area, and distribution of supplies and
commodities to people affected by the disaster.

SHELTER OPERATIONS/SIMULATION
The purpose of this course is to prepare
Red Cross and other agencies' staff to effectively and sensitively, manage
shelter operations as a team, to meet the needs of people displaced as a
result of a disaster. Simulation gives participants an opportunity to
practice this knowledge.

DISASTER MENTAL HEALTH: An Overview
The purpose of this course is to help
participants understand the Disaster Mental Health Services (DMHS)
function within the American Red Cross Disaster Services Program.
Participants will learn how Disaster Mental Health Services supports both
disaster relief workers and people affected by disasters. This course is
open to all Red Cross volunteers

FOUNDATIONS OF DISASTER MENTAL HEALTH
The purpose of this two day course is to
prepare participants to use their professional skills to provide the
specific activities and interventions necessary to meet the
disaster-related mental health needs of Red Cross workers and their
families, people affected by disaster and communities. This course is
designed specifically for Mental Health Professionals.
PREREQUISITES FOR THIS COURSE:
Intro to Disaster Services, Family Services: Providing Emergency
Assistance, ,Mass Care, DISASTER MENTAL HEALTH: An Overview, and
you must be one of the following: Counselor, Marriage and Family
Therapist, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, A RN with psychiatric nursing
experience or a Social Worker. |

DISASTER ASSESSMENT WORKSHOP ITS
The purpose of this workshop it to enable
participants to understand the importance of accurate disaster assessment
information to the disaster relief operation, the affected chapters and
the Disaster Operation Center (DOC) and how it helps to shape an effective
Service Delivery Plan.

ERVs: Ready, Set, Roll
The purpose of this course is to prepare
Red Cross paid and volunteer staff to safely and effectively use an
emergency response vehicle (ERV) and it's equipment to meet feeding and
other service needs of the people affected by disaster.
PREREQUISITES FOR THIS COURSE:
Intro to Disaster Services, Family Services: Providing Emergency
Assistance, Mass Care, Valid Driver's License and Satisfactory Driving
Record and First Aid and CPR certification. |

WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION/TERRORISM: An Overview
The purpose of this course is to provide
basic information about the issues and safety concerns in performing our
work in an environment involving Weapons of Mass Destruction and/or
Terrorism (WMD/T) incident. Participants will learn about the skills,
abilities, and knowledge needed by disaster workers performing duties in
this environment.

LOGISTICS: An Overview/Simulation
The purpose ot his training is to provide
basic information about the activities and processes of the Logistics
function in support of an American Red Cross disaster relief operation.
Participants will learn about the skills, abilities, and knowledge needed
by Logistics workers and how they can get started in their local chapter.

DISASTER HEALTH SERVICES: An Overview
The purpose of this training is to
provide basic information about the activities of the Disaster Health
Services (DHS) function of the American Red Cross. Participants will learn
more about what various knowledge, skills, and abilities are needed by
Disaster Health Services staff as well as how they can get involved in
their local chapter.
PREREQUISITES FOR THIS COURSE:
Intro to Disaster Services, Family Services: Providing Emergency
Assistance, Mass Care, and you Must
hold current license for LPN, RN, EMT, Paramedic or MD |

DISASTER HEALTH SERVICES SIMULATION
The purpose of this training is to
provide participants an opportunity to practice the knowledge, skills, and
abilities needed to work in the Disaster Health Services function on a
disaster relief operation. This course completes basic Disaster Services
preparation to work in Disaster Health Services (DHS) on local and
national relief operations.
