The Sioux Empire Chapter's Disaster Services
component responds to disasters such as tornadoes, floods, fi Each year, the American Red Cross responds to more than 60,000 disasters house or apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made disasters. How Can I Help? The Sioux Empire Chapter is always looking for volunteers to join Disaster Services. Responsibilities may include: responding to local disasters (such as floods or fires), staffing first aid standby stations and, if desired, becoming a member of the national Disaster Services Human Resources network from which volunteers respond to help people in need nationwide. If you are interested in volunteering, the best way to start is by taking our Intro. to Disaster Class. Please see the Disaster Class schedule to find out when the next class takes place. You can also help fund the help provided to disaster victims by the American Red Cross by making a financial contribution.
